These little critters look like little imps from Solsek B Efreeti area or Kindle in Solsek A. They are rogues which backstab for 400+ and are found all over the zone. These are VERY deadly and always the first target when one is in the camp. The primary danger of the Scarelings is their proc ability Scareling Step which teleports their victim to a random location nearby like a shadowstep, or if it procs on an NPC, it will Gate them. This can easily start a massive train leading to a total wipe out of the raiding party. However, as the Scareling needs to hit its target to proc, its primary danger can be neutralized by maintaining damage shields such as Rune V on its target. This will prevent Scareling Step from proccing entirely, reducing the Scareling to a simple rogue mob. Enchanters: do not charm these. Scareling Step doesn't shadowstep NPC's like it does with players; it Gates them. This happening even a single time will likely wipe your entire raid. In 2022, designer Brian Canary described how he wanted to give scarelings the ability to teleport themselves in order to confuse the player, but, due to a bug or other unanticipated consequence, instead of the effect applying to themselves it applied to their target. It was quickly apparent that this was a more terrifying outcome and left as it was in the game.
