Walkthrough

"Skeletal miners" are at the zoneline of Paineel in southern Toxxulia. Observe their back-and-forth dialogues:

abandoned heretic pet says 'Blast you skeletons! Why I ever ressurected you, I don't know!!'

Referenced records: abandoned heretic pet

abandoned heretic pet says 'Speed up the digging my pets!!'
a skeleton (miner) says 'We are not your pets!!'

Referenced records: a skeleton (miner)

a skeleton says 'We will speed up when you return our mining caps. There are falling rocks all over this place!! We could get killed!!'

Useless Cloth Cap can sometimes be looted from a kobold scout. Take a Cap to the two skeleton miners (or the abandoned heretic pet) at the entrance to Paineel.

;Talrigar Eklorin

Talrigar wanders the Paineel side of the river in Toxxulia. When he is near a skeleton (miner) you may sometimes observe the following dialogue:

Referenced records: Talrigar · a skeleton (miner)

Talrigar Eklorin says 'How many times must I remind you,.. YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD!! I shall find a young apprentice to [seek out the mining caps].'

When hailed the following dialogue becomes available

You say, 'Hail, Talrigar Eklorin'

Talrigar Eklorin says, 'This is no place for adventures of any sort. You had best leave before your bones join in on my private task. Heed my words, unless of course you are a [practitioner of the black arts]'

You say, 'I am a practitioner of the black arts'

Talrigar Eklorin says, 'So you are a fellow necromancer? You have chosen the most powerful circle of magic. You are wise. I seek to employ a young necromancer to [seek out two mining caps]'

You say, 'I will seek out two mining caps'

Talrigar Eklorin says, 'Somewhere within this forest are two Mining Caps. They are nothing more than cloth caps which I used to fake my summoned pet's working within the cave nearby. They were stolen by a couple of kobold scouts. Return these caps to me and I shall reward thee. Maybe even with knowledge of Necromancy.'

Upon turning in TWO Useless Cloth Cap:

Talrigar Eklorin says, 'Good work. I can now silence the continual whining of my skeletons. Here young apprentice, your reward. Ask for nothing more.'

NOTE: Unlike the abandoned heretic pet and the skeletal miners, choosing to turn in caps with Talrigar gives the following faction hits:

Heretics improves, while High Council of Erudin, Craftkeepers, Crimson Hands, and Gatecallers each decrease.

~~Be cautious if you are a good-aligned character as these factions may be difficult to repair.~~

You receive a low-level item (possibly low level Necromancer Spell?)

;Abandoned heretic pet

The abandoned heretic's pet wanders a path from the wall to the "porch" at Paineel.

Referenced records: Paineel

abandoned heretic pet glowers at you dubiously -- You could probably win this fight.

Upon turning in Useless Cap:

abandoned heretic pet says, 'Good work, you should be running this operation instead of that Talrigar fellow. Have a small reward. A little bit of the gems I found while tunneling through this rock.'

Referenced records: Talrigar

You receive a low-level gem (Amber, etc)

Referenced records: Amber

;Lefthand Busy skeleton

a skeleton glares at you threateningly -- You could probably win this fight.

• NOTE: a skeleton will attack if hailed or if too close

• NOTE: couldn't do turn in at Threateningly, had to sneak to succeed

Referenced records: sneak

You say, 'Hail, a skeleton'

a skeleton says, 'Can't you see we're busy here?!!'

a skeleton regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

Upon turning in Useless Cap:

a skeleton says, 'Good work, you should be running this operation instead of that Talrigar fellow. Have a small reward. A little bit of the gems I found while tunneling through this rock.'

You receive a low-level gem (Onyx, etc)

Referenced records: Onyx

;Righthand skeleton

a skeleton glares at you threateningly -- You could probably win this fight.

• NOTE: a skeleton will attack if hailed or if too close

• NOTE: couldn't do turn in at Threateningly, had to sneak to succeed

Referenced records: sneak

You say, 'Hail, a skeleton'

a skeleton says, 'Grab a pick. Give us a hand!!'

a skeleton regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

Upon turning in Useless Cap:

a skeleton says, 'Aye.. You cut out the middleman.. I shall reward you.. hmm.. I have not found anything, how about.. How about something off meself?'

You receive an undead item (Bone Chips, Zombie Skin, etc)

Referenced records: Bone Chips · Zombie Skin

Note: This quest does not affect any faction unless you give caps to Talrigar, and can be completed at dubious faction. Good-aligned Erudites CAN successfully turn in to the heretic pet, who wanders outside of the tunnel.

Gave 10% experience at level 3.
